Neurotransmitters and Brain Foods
Keep in mind that the thinking that goes on in your brain is a biochemical process. In order for your brain cells to communicate in an effective manner with each other and to lay down neural pathways they need chemicals that are called neurotransmitters. What are neurotransmitters to be exact? They are basically messengers that deliver information from one neuron in the brain to another.
Neurotransmitters derive from amino acids which are found in foods that are composed of a high quantity of protein. Examples of these include fish, meat and cheese. Vitamins and minerals then must convert amino acids into the neurotransmitters which then become all powerful. Each and every one of us comes by neurotransmitters by way of the foods we consume on a daily basis. This is why we refer to the most important of these foods as brain foods.
There are many types of brain foods that can support the brain in staying as young as possible and can encourage mental alertness and agility. We will tackle some of the most important ones here. The more of these foods you can incorporate into your daily diet, the healthier will your brain be. Brain rot be gone!
It is Berrilicious!
If you choose to eat only one fruit then make it berries. In particular blueberries get top marks. Research studies have proven that they improve motor skills and the ability to learn while they also are instrumental in reducing the effects of many conditions that are related to age such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Blueberries help to protect the brain from suffering from oxidative stress as well.
But that is not all. Blueberries are not only helpful in slowing the rate at which the brain ages but they are actually able to reverse some of the damage that age brings about and from there improve memory. This miracle berry also fights inflammation which tends to occur more readily with advancing age.
It is recommended that you add approximately one cup or more of fresh or frozen blueberries to your diet on a regular basis. Eat them with your cereal or oatmeal or add them to yogurt. Other excellent berry choices include strawberries, cranberries, raspberries and blackberries.
